From bid to buy-out, Preconstruction Engineers contribute to Brinkman Construction’s business development process, assisting with our efforts to acquire negotiated and hard-bid projects. With broad responsibility for supporting the RFPs and RFQ response process, and preparing estimates, quantity take-offs, conceptual cost budgets and pricing analyses, as well as subcontractor/vendor relations, Preconstruction Engineers contribute to the success of Brinkman Construction’s projects in many ways, both big and small. Working in tandem with project leads, Preconstruction Engineers assist with estimating design milestones, value engineering, constructability, schedule review, and maintaining and identifying long-lead items to support design-build/assist projects.
This is a highly collaborative role in a relationship-driven organization where Preconstruction Engineers frequently coordinate with subcontractors and vendors, as well as interact with field management staff, office management staff, senior leadership and Brinkman Construction’s clientele, so the ideal candidate will be a confident, capable, and adaptable communicator.
As a ‘Point of Entry’ position for graduates of Construction Management and/or Civil Engineering degree programs, Preconstruction Engineers have ample opportunity to take advantage of training and development programs and stretch assignments designed to expand their knowledge, skills and abilities as construction professionals, and to pursue professional certifications including OSHA 30, SWMP and First Aid/CPR.
