Building Information Modeling, simply referred to as BIM, is a process that Brinkman Construction uses to virtually plan project work. BIM is a process where 3D models are created with the information needed to construct the project embedded into the model. This technology affords many opportunities to leverage virtual models and simulations to better understand and construct projects through enhanced collaboration with the design teams and subcontractors.
Team members first create models for their scopes of work. These individual models are then combined to better understand how the different systems work together. This helps the team identify the areas where buildings can be more efficient. Schedule can also be incorporated to simulate how the project will be constructed.
Utilizing BIM results in a higher quality building for the owner with a higher potential for cost and schedule savings due to mitigation of conflicts in the construction documents.
